well i can't figure these out:all answers will be appreciated and please include working out.

1.john buys jeans in a sale for 70% of the original price.if he pays $42 how much were they before the sale?

2.eastern standard time (est) is 2 hours ahead of perth time.A plane leaves sydney at 10 to 4 (3:50)est and arrives in perth after a 5 hour trip.what time is it in perth when it arrives?

3.kim earns $450 a week.he saves $90.calculate the percentage of his pay that he spends.

4.using this pattern below complete the statemen
5^2-4^2=5+4

6^2-5^2=6+5

7^2-6^2=7+6

8^2-7^2=8+7

9^2-8^2=9+8

65^-box=box+box=box

(please explain this one because its really weird too me)(the boxes are blank)

4.for every 10 people caught speeding

4 lose 1 point
2 lose 3points
3 lose 3points
1 loses 6 points

on a long weekend what percentage will lose their licence after being caught speeding once?

1. 0.7a = 42
a = $60

2. the plan arrives at perth 8:50 est. But est is 2 hours ahead of perth. hence the time at perth is 6:50

3. percentage saved: 90/450 x 100 = 20%
percentage spent : 80%

4. 65^2 - 64^2 = 65 + 64 = 129
Look at it. After each number, the next box is 2. so after 62, the next box is 2. for each number, the third box is one less than the first box, so the third box is 64. and then the last two boxes are just the first box and third box. The last box is the previous two boxes added together.

5. We need to know how many points will be lost until one loses their license. This is not specified.

1. $60
(42/70*100)
2. 6:50
(3:50+5hrs=8:50) (2 hrs ahead of sydney therefore its 6:50)
3. 80%
(450-90=(spending) 360)
360/450*100=80%

still working out the rest of the questions...:shy:
i will reply to those later...

it's twelve points per licence, assuming they all have all their points, and a long weekend is double demerits therefore 1/10 will lose their licences, therefore 10%.
