Felt like I should make a comment about the med discussion earlier.

How competitive it is to get into med and there are people who do it for money and prestige. I just don't understand that? You can earn so much money if you get into business and surely prestige too. Meanwhile I do not have that ability to get the enough ATAR requirement for undergrad degree but it has always been my impetus passion to become a doctor which probably triggered because of the lack of medical care where I was brought up. My dream, no matter how difficult the path maybe is to succeed and to get into med.
Besides the indoctrinated cultural prestige, medicine also has the reputation for economic safety. As in it is a relatively high-paying very safe job (i.e. the asian dream) given that we will always need (an increasing amount of) doctors.

Really the primary motivations for medicine
Altruistic - I want to help people (A lot of people pretend to be this but are really one of the below)
Money - There is a lot of potential money especially in specializations
Safety - It is a relatively safe career, decent progression (I think doctors get paid more with experience?)
Prestige - Doctors have pretty good rep as a profession
External Pressure - Usually as a result of one or more of the above factors to a person of influence (i.e. Parents)

If you have the passion for it, then you can defs achieve it. On the outside there is the stigma of prestige and nobility associated with med, but I feel when you're actually a doctor your life is completely different. I'm talking about the stress and the moral pressure associated with dealing with an individuals life, and I think that your moral intuition needs more than 'prestige and money' to facilitate this requirement.

have you read Tokyo Ghoul? Only the first season tho. If you only read the first season of the manga and nothing else, you will be saved from a waterfall of disappointment.

Bc Re was only made due to the hype associated with with season 1 and idk I feel it tries too hard and diverts away from what the first season brought. Diverted away from the whole philosophical aspect of ghoul vs human and the moral implications of such a scenario, and just turned into another cliche good vs bad manga. Something along the lines of Hellsing, but even then, Hellsing is stronger than TK Re. I've read most of RE and lost interest pretty quickly. But its just personal opinion.

Which all of these lead to money.

The world revolves around money.

Money controls power.

But does money bring you happiness?

Why is it statistically shown that people in a lower income bracket are more happier than people in a high income bracket?

The problem with our society is that we keep on wanting more and more and more and more.

We never focus on what we have, we are never grateful of anything.

When do we ever think for ourselves? When do we ever...

Time won't change anything. TRUST me on that. And stop running away from your problems if the problem is you.

There are a lot of people in the world, who are book smart, yes, but many of them do not know how to survive on their own.

Many do not know how to cook. Many do not know how to tidy their room. Many do not know how to save money. BUT all they know, is how to study.

The 'typical' life of a person, live, get nurtured, get to a good school, good grades, good prestigious course, good uni, good work, good family, have children, repeat.

No, sorry, but it doesn't work like that. We have such of an expectation gap in our society!! We see our lives like the top posts on social media, having fun, exploring the world, doing what they LOVE. We keep looking at the highlights of people's lives, but not the behind the scenes. Soz for the long post <3

There is nothing wrong with striving for more, whether it be monetary or materialistic.
Just make sure you take a step back and realise that you are - in your own definition, living rather than just existing.

I'm stuck with the existential dread of simply existing, but that's due to my genetic/neurological/psychological traits, which are not of my own choosing.

It scared me so much when someone got passionately angry at me, telling me that I was merely existing and not living my life the way I want to. It hit me so god damn hard.

I'm the person who goes around doing that to people lol

but... alas, they are none the wiser and dismiss my statements as the rambling of a mad mind.

whatever... it's not my existential regret, it's theirs.

Which is good because it brings awareness to people. And I think you yourself and someone else in your life will always be that kind of person. But now I have a lot of issues with my parents LOLOL.

I've become so numb
