Oh yeah I got so many exam marks back today...

92% in Ancient History (4th lol)
94% in Food Tech (1st)
88% in Bio (1st but gross)
15/15 for English Adv Creative, 15/15 for Reading Comprehension and they haven't told us the essay marks yet.
93% for Legal Studies (1st)
And Idk English Extension yet.

So yeah I did pretty alright, but I'm disappointed with Food Tech and Bio... I made a lot of stupid mistakes in Bio though and the multiple choice was really hard, I got 21/30 for MC and that was the top of my cohort :bomb:

I could always have improved though. The person who got the top mark in Ancient got 100% which my teacher said she hasn't given for a Half-Yearly exam for over 30 years... So yeah in Ancient I m content with my marks and position but in Bio in particular I was really disappointed though. It was kinda unfair though because my teacher put in a couple of Multiple Choice questions from the next topic that we haven't even started yet. Needless to say, no one got a single one of them correct.

WDYT about students that finish and hand in their assignments weeks early?

Even if I finished, I wouldn't hand it in until the due date.

Because I can read over an essay 5 times and I won't be able to fault it, but when I hand it in and read through it at home I find a mistake that's blatantly obvious.

I had an embarrassing one once due to auto correct. I wanted to type whereas, and in my essay it said whore as. Lucky I could print another copy off at the school library though.

To the point - isn't it disadvantageous to be overly confident and risk not picking up on mistakes or having that extra time to refine things?

You aced it.
Doesn't matter if you received 88% for bio - it's all about the rank. Well done.

I normally complete my assignments 1-2 weeks before the due date so that I don't feel stressed and so that I have time to receive feedback (if able).

anyone got tips for debate/debating? I might be doing my first debate this week, I am pretty confident on the speaking part but I've never done debating before except a couple years back. They always ask me to do it and say I would be good at it tho but I never had fridays free the other years or even a slight care/interest.

Yeah I captain my school debate team currently so I may be able to help, I guess my biggest tip would be to be prepared. So, if the topic is education I tend to look up a bunch of statistics related to the topic that you may be able to draw into a debate to make it stand out more. Which speaker are you on your debate team?

Yes. You have the proper mentality, don't throw away all your cards before you play them. Same in exam conditions - don't sit there doing nothing, double check and triple check your answers.

If I complete assessments too early I slack off because my mind says "You've already done it, chill man." I just try and do it in blocks and then edit it with around 2-3 days left.

I like to do my assignments all at once no mater how long it takes. I then continue to edit away at it whenever something else needs to be added or taken away and I fix it up a bit. Idk, that's just what works best for me.

Makes me feel better. A couple of people handed in an assignment 2 weeks early, and were like 'I've got this, it was so easy, lol'
I was thinking why when it's worth 20%, would someone do that.

I do this too, but sometimes it bothers me because I'm seeing less progress than I would if say I just focused on one assignment.
