but in gen maths dont u fiddle with surds? or in yr 10....
say u have a negative root, back in those days, we write 'no real solution'. in 4u we continue by taking root negative one as 'i'.

√-1 = i

so √-4 = √-1 x √4 = 2i

We have 3x75 minute mx2 morning lessons (7.30 to 8.45) a fortnight.
Add that to the 9 periods of maths each fortnight we currently have (for maths and mx1), and you get 12. I sorta have maths everyday.
That is, around 54000 seconds of maths a fortnight or roughly27000 seconds a week.

There's about 65-75 people doing 4u maths in my year (myself included). 3 classes of 23-25 or somthing like that.

The Maths staff at SBHS seem to be pushing you to do more work than others. Doing the HSC 2 unit course is arguably pointless because it probably won't count towards your UAI, since practically everyone doing it would be taking up Extension 2. The only thing that it probably would play a significant role in, is the number of band 6 results in the school for 2 unit Maths; a sly way to boost the school's ranking, since a band 6 in 2 unit Maths is easily accessible.
So in a way, you guys are made to do all 3 HSC exams (8 hours in total) for taking Extension 2, rather than only 2 exams (5 hours total), which is the case for most students.
