Ok, I was wondering if anyone wanted to speculate whether a 99.60 (otherwise known as the Sydney Uni Law mark) or more was possible with current marks, and if not, how much I'd need to improve.

Trial Marks / Overall Ranks

English Advanced - 89, Rank 5 / 105
English Extension 1 - 46, Rank 3 / 21
English Extension 2 - 47, Rank 1 / 11
Modern - 98, Rank 3 / 27
History Extension - 44, Rank 1 / 17
Legal Studies - 98, Rank 1 / 30
Economics - 85, Rank 2 / 21

I'm at a top 50 school - in 2003 it was the top non-selective Government high school in the state, but last year we had a bloody awful cohort. This year's candidature is more like 2003 :D

Thanks for all help, much appreciated.

English Advanced top was 93.

Economics was 95, but he was an outlier, and I had a shitty time in the exam. I know I definitely can / have to improve there.

if that's the case, yes - 99.6 is more than just possible.

you go to Killara?
Looks like you're gonna get Dux
just see what the dux got in 2003
and you should be somewhere near that

im looking for the same UAI actually...
someone predict if i can get into sydney law

Eng Ad- 76 24/106
Math X1- 85 5/48
Math X2- 65 11/16
Chemistry- 81 7/47
Physics- 72 5/38
Modern- 76 15/25 (wont count)

I was so pissed the school reckons i'll get the 28th highest UAI!
I dont think they understand scaling...
We had pretty hard trials, but some say they were easy
top 20s Selective school [doesnt feel like it though]

Yes, I go to Killara. No, I don't think I'll be dux. Dux in 2003 got 100, with 2nd on 99.95. They were freakishly good - I don't think our year is quite there.

Oh - and quit hijacking my thread :p

I don't think you'll get 99.6 for USYD combined law.

EDIT- Wait, I didn't see that your school was ranked high... I still don't think you'll get 99.6 but you'll get a high UAI... actually, thinking about it more, you have a chance- if you go really well in the exams and all that.

yes, you have a decent chance of 99.6. 98 in modern history only got you rank 3?! I'm sorry, but I can only imagine that your marker is very lenient... unless you have three state-toppers in your class.

Rank 3 is overall. I kicked arse in the trial, Rank 1, but I hadn't pulled my weight in earlier assessments.

don't think like that. if you aim for the top of the tree (or what you HSCers think is the top of the tree), then you will never get there.

just try your best, and leave the rest to god/fate/whatever.

I know, you're 100% right. But, it's hard to think rationally like that a week and a bit before HSC kicks in :(
