Agro stop being stupid :p

The qualifying system is great though ... Bernie ... TAKE NOTES!!!!

Its a 2 hour session, broken up into little chunks of 15 minutes, where 25 cars go out in each session. The best two times in qualifying will be aggregate and viola, the fastest car will be on pole  The finishing order of the sprint race which features a rolling start! will decide the grid for the main race, pit stops are mandatory.

Sounds great!

I don't know much about inner-city roads, truth be told, but I was thnking mostly using the Cahill Expressway for the Start/Finish and Pits, and run it up from Wooloomooloo past the Domain, thread it through the city streets and down to Centrpoint, skirt Hyde Park, back up to the Domain and then weave back around to the Start/Finish. Something like this ...
that looks like a pretty good track.

I had a look. And I'm saying instead of going past the centrepoint area (where the streets are too narrowand a single crash could fuck up a lot), go around Hyde Park or around the Botanical Gardens along the coastline (a la the Monaco circuit)

Good track, but I don't know about the right-hand turns - they have never been popular in F1.

Everyone make their own version of "Sydney's Ideal Track" whether it be on the streets somewhere or a circuit.

It wasn't popular popular with the drivers, which is why the USGP has had so many track changes. So I guess popularity (in this sense) does matter. But then again, the last track with those 90-degree turns was made in the carpark of a Las Vegas casino - so it could suit today's drivers. I don't know. It's a good track nonetheless. Personally, I've always considered the Rocks as a suitable place to hold a race.

if there is to be a street race chances are it would be held at homebush, so it dosent further disrupt the city traffic. and homebush as nice new and wide roads, and is made internartionally poplular through the olympics.

Yeh, forgot about Phoenix. That thing was all right-handed corners. Explains why it lasted only a few years. Best US track ever was probably Watkins Glen - but it was mighty dangerous. Francois Cevert died there - one of the most talented drivers (in my opinion) ever.

Don't get confused by the names. Formula One is the world's premier motorsport championship. IT comprises of the world's fastest and most technologically advanced racing cars, combined witht he world's most famous and talented drivers.

A1 Grand Prix is a brand new championship starting this September. It's considered the "world cup of motorsport" as teams will be competing for their country, not for their manufacturers as they do in F1.

All the chassis, engines and tyres in A1 will be uniform and the only thing to seprate the teams will be the technical skill of the race staff and the drivers themselves. F1 on the other hand, is all about technological progress and pushing the limits of design and competitiveness - meaning that the teams with the most resources will be the best.

For someone who doesn't follow motorsport, the cars and their performance will look the same - but for an avid F1 fan the differences are huge and the final conclusion is that A1 is definitely a class below F1 - but this could change if the F1 bureaucracy continue to do shitty amendments like introducing v8 engines instead of the v10s they currently use.

Wow! You boys have some time on your hands! Could you imagine Sydney effectively shutting down for a motor race. Adelaide does it, but Adelaide isn't as big as Sydney.

When I have a spare few minutes I'll do a map, looks like fun

Me still think a race through Homebush would be nice. Actually, I have a uni project that requires me to plan an event to increase the popularity of Homebush Bay :p

Ok, does anyone know how much a ticket would cost to go to Sunday's race or the three day admission? I would guess somewhere between the expensive price of F1 and the tightass price of the V8s.

I've decided to go to A1 GP this year, i'm definately going to F1 next year and possibly bathurst, and the year after I'm going to indy car and moto gp (if they are still here :p).
Only problem:
1. I am dead broke - better get some money
2. I hate being a girl who like motorsport, cause none of my friends will come with me :(

I'm going to A1 and F1 definitely. Would like to go Indy, but don't really care about Indy.

I hate motogp, but I'm going for the hell of it. I can barely stand Indy, but just like moto gp I'm going for the hell of it.

I'm already counting down the days until the 30th of March  lol.
