which one is better? depends what career path u wanna take
most commerce students double major in accounting and finance anyway..

accounting is mostly to do with financial reporting, auditing, taxation, bugeting for business, profit analysis etc (ie management accounting)
finance is more investments, capital markets etc

if u combine B Com with LLB... then u can only single major rite?

also can u affirm or counter my logic since im only speculating...
cos i figure accounting major would b a much more practical with LLB cos its more a skill rather than a profession... eg.. .ull need it for conveyancing or any type of contract law(i think)... n if ur going for a management job later on... ur gona need to interpret the accounts etc... whereas finance is more professional kind of major in that u can build a career on it... but not useful as supplement to LLB...

wot do u think... right or wrong?

i think i'm in the wrong uni forum but errm anyway, all this talk of how useful accounting is is starting to scare me. if i know i'm not going to major in accounting, how useful is accounting 1A and 1B? would i be able to get away with just doing the two 1xxx units- management accounting concepts and financial accounting concepts (offered at usyd :p and they won't allow me to go on to 2xxx accounting units)

yes single major with LLB

well, thats not really correct - accounting is a professional major, probably the most recognised business major - because by doing Accounting - ur on your way to becoming a CPA or a CA here and internationally. The common misperception by ppl is thinking Accounting is all about bookkeeping or something - its not like that, thats the kind of stuff u goto TAFE for.

probably finance

with accounting you just need to add numbers up, really. the hard stuff has to do with HOW to add the numbers and display them in correct formats, and how to do it legally

not really
finance kids just do ECON1202 - QMA

theres not a terrible deal of maths in either finance or accounting...theres no "maths" subject in either majior, except in 1st year with QMA and QMB

Newbie: CPA and CA are professional associations for accountants..u pay to join their association to be recognised as a pro accountant..you can join either one. Im planning to be a CA

CA is old traditional UK shit which is recognised world wide in most European nations
and USA and hongkong, singapore, malaysia.

CPA is more common in Australia.

PS: i think Finance and Economics is the same shit.

Well, when study both subjects simultenously at uni, you'll find great differences, even at 1st year level
