i say cut through all the bullshit advertising and 100's of gimmicky products

go see your doctor and he'll prescribe "roacatane" (bad spelling) if it's really bad

or this other one called vibra-tabs which im on which is like an antibiotic for your skin.

the tablets really work, but they take a few weeks to kick in.

if you want it fixed, fix it properly i say. same goes for those people telling you to eat more vegetables, in whcih my doctor said there was no evidence to support that.

as for the products, they all have the same ingredient, including pro-active. "benzoyl peroxide"
instead of looking at wanky packaging etc. ill buy the topical creme with the highest percentage benzoyl peroxide. easy. 10-15% is good.
this is because benzoyl peroxide is recommended by dermitologists and stuff.

pro active might work but it has a tendency to over drying your skin.

roactane can cause depression but my two friends which have used it havent got any depression during the period when they took it

i like tree tea oil works good for me

Drink a lot of water. I find this helps.
And I know that they've proven that chocolate doesn't cause pimples, but I do find that if I have a sugar binge it does get to my face within the week after.
I use Nutrimetics products and I make sure I wash my face twice a day, without fail.

i dont think the higher the percentage of benzoyl peroxide the better it works, ive been told that the 2.5-5% creams are better, and they dont cause as much swelling and dryness.

this is from my brothers dermatologist, and he used the clear skin regimen (www.acne.org) and it seemed to work for him. he used many products that ended up being less and less effective until he started the regimen.

um anything with benzoyl peroxide in it tends to work though as alleycat said, a lower concentration will cause you less discomfort. other than that i dont know much about acne products beyond your usual clearasil and stuff.

I would try to avoid antibiotics, unless of course you want humanity dying of the plague in 30 years. I use pro-activ, and it works well. The important thing with it is to use it consistently, and it will safely prevent pimples. Just make sure you use the moisturiser that comes with it.

Wash your face with a small towel morning and night, don't touch your face (this seemed to work for me), eat fruit particularly watermelons, apply any of the acne cream mentioned daily if it's fairly severe.

I used to have terrible acne.

Just try and keep your face clean by wiping it occasionaly through the day with a dry towel or something (I found that by washing my face with water during the day only made things worse.)

I also blow dry my face after ive had a shower...may sound stupid but it really helps. After ive got my face nice and dry I rub in a small bit of toothpaste...it really stops the pimples spreading and has a concealer type effect :hammer:

Yeah thats how i got pimple free. None of those bullshit acne products work. This does. Well it did for me anyway.

and for the love of god DONT TOUCH YOUR FACE! :p

If you've tried products then go to a doctor. They will probably give you a cream.

 That can be worse for you because (1) you are adding heat. Heat is not good for acne. (2) You're artificilally drying out your skin, your skin will produce more oil, oil is not good for acne. I have found similar (contradictory) results with something else, so if it works then keep it up.

well according to my skin specialist, roaccutane doesn't cause depression. he specifically said that since its used in so many places around the world by so many people, of course there are going to be a large number of people who have depression who take this medication. he believes that those who have depression would have it anyway regardless of whether they took/take roaccutane.

i had pretty bad acne during year 12, but my specialist has put me on roaccutane (ive been on it 3 months now). i dont have a single pimple on my face now and haven't had one for a while. it worked so well, nothing else worked for me before.
my cousin had to take it as well, he had really bad pimples and now his skin is perfect, no scars or anything. another 1 of my friends had to take it, since he had really bad acne all over his face/back, again, his skin is now flawless. its good coz it also gets rid of those scars and bruising.

roaccutane is the best acne medication ever. and i feel sorry for those who are afraid to take it coz they think there is a high risk of getting depressed. if anything, you'd be MORE depressed not taking it, coz u will have a face full of pimples!
