for the class of 2003, anyone considering doing a critical response, i hope the following helps

1) do PLENTY of research. yes this medium does allow you to be creative but you also need to be analytical. since so much of ext 2 is the process you really need to do background work

2) decide what you're doing early on. don't think "i have a whole year to write an essay" because you'll need plenty of time to draft, start over, and start over again

3) Choose something that's original but will sustain your interest. Do not do what your teacher tells you to do unless that's what you want! you're the one that will be stuck writing it at midnight when it's due

4) Aim to have it done two weeks before the due date. when you have a whole year that's easy enough to do and will save you a LOT of stress

5) Get as many ppl to read it as possible. Don't be afraid of criticism. Start getting feedback in the earlier stages when you have time to change your idea rather than the last minute when it will just create panic. Recognise the merit of criticism and take it on board but remember at the end of the day, these are your ideas and you can argue/present whatever you want

Good luck!!!!!
