The contrast of the bright, vibrant orange sky that shines around the other figures with the dull black encapsulating the figure in the foreground conveys a sense of distinct separation between the two

look at the salient feature - face - droopy, its expression conveys a sense of not belonging, looking at the darkness below

the vectors lead the the figures in the background, the couple, looking up towards the bright orange - belonging

the relative proportions of the characters convey a sense of distance - not belonging

colour symbolism - each colour conveys the emotion felt in each character's circumstance

hope that helps =)

My fantastic english teacher gave us a sheet with the major visual text techniques on it, they are;
Salience - the main focus of the image/ subject first drawn to.
Colour and lighting ( Symbolism of colour e.g red may represent passion)
If black + white image look for contrast.
Composition (what is in it)
Body position and gaze

Only use technqiues that represent belonging of the text in some way.:)

It's best with any two texts to link them in terms of the ideas/concepts expressed by each text. You could link the manner in which certain characters/events/objects are portrayed by each text as well.

I'm thinking of doing this for 1 of my related texts. Good idea or not?

Also, does anyone know the origin of the work?
