Andrew Symonds expelled from Ashes tour

CONTROVERSIAL allrounder Andrew Symonds is on his way home from England after an 'alcohol-related incident'.

Cricket Australia boss James Sutherland made the announcement in Melbourne tonight.

He said Symonds had breached the team rules, and that an incident was related to alcohol, but gave no further details.

Sutherland said the breach was not serious but was enough for him to be sent home.

He said the Australian's team leadership group made the decision to bring Symonds home, and he will arrive in Australia on Saturday.

A replacement player is being organised now, Sutherland added.

He said Symonds contract ends on June 30, and a decision on his future will be made at a later date.
