Goosebumps! I read all the books throughout year 5 and 6.

And then when it came out on channel 10 as a teevee series! Oh boy! I didn't own a video recorder at the time - so my grandma taped every episode for me and delivered to my house the day after for several repeats.

Goosebump nerd for life.

I wish a bit torn for a second, I love them both...

But now that my nostalgia-clouded judgement has cleared, I'd say Animorphs, for the win.

Animorphs contained one of the most complex and beautiful narratives even seen in a children's series.

Imho, the Chronicles are some of the finest examples of Young Adult Literature ever seen...The Ellimist Chronicles is a must read for every person under the age of 18.
Hmm perhaps you are correct. But i skipped teen fiction and started on adult when i was 11 or 12, which is probably why i thought of animorphs as rather lame. Conclusion: i was a pretentious 12 year-old wanker.

Paul Jennings really floated my boat as a wee tacker.

As Ash said: Animorphs dealt with
- War (no kidding), consequences thereof, losses thereof
- Racism, bigotry, xenophobia and xenocide, genocide, loyalty
- Love, loss, hatred, responsibility
- Respect for life
- Actions and consequences

They're still awesome books. I still have them, and I still read them.

Goosebumps? Just a bunch of really not-scary stories.
