Is there a way to figure out which solution makes an anion precipitate? Surely there's an easier way than to just memorise a flowchart?

Unfortunately there's no way to get around the fact that you need to memorise.

Either you memorise all the solubility rules or you memorise tests for the specific ions required by the syllabus.

e.g. sulfate and phosphate both precipitate with barium, but barium phosphate dissolves under acidic conditions while barium sulfate does not.
