Re: Announcement from BOSTES - significant change to calculus courses

Because my brain isn't a super machine that picks what it decides to forget / retain over the years.

"I do not like this change at all."

If it's no big deal for you why are you complaining? I'll also say that there are a lot more formulae you must remember in year 12 vs. year 10...
might vary from person to person I guess. Personally as I practice..the formulas just stick to me..so the formula sheet will be useless. But I cant change shit so gotta accept it.

Nah I had 0 problem remembering formulae in year 10. Yet I still would appreciate a formulae sheet. One less thing to worry about.

Re: Announcement from BOSTES - significant change to calculus courses

Among Maths teachers, I believe this is the main reason to support a formula sheet: reduce anxiety for students who fear forgetting formulas in the exam (even though they probably do know them after all the practice they've done).

Of course, the exam will change in response to this development. Probably not too much, though. There is still a need to test students' ability to select the right formula and use it correctly.

I don't really mind the new formula sheet (more like booklet, tbh), but it's a bit annoying that they have plenty of 3U-specific stuff and no 4U specific stuff. At least throw in the circular motion formulas in there.

Looking good, but how am I gonna help other people with the content when I don't even know half of it myself lol.

Or is this still not gonna be implemented for a good 2 years

Hopefully they won't give the poor 2U kids a 4U question at least.

But to be fair, some counting was already taught in general maths. Just probably not as perms and combs

Here are some summaries:

http://4unitmaths.com/vectors-summary.pdf

http://4unitmaths.com/matrices-summary.pdf

Other than that you can get pdfs of these books:

Bronson, R., Matrix Operations, McGraw-Hill, 1989

Lipschutz, S., Linear Algebra, McGraw-Hill, 1968

Spiegel, M.R., Vector Analysis, McGraw-Hill, 1959 (Chapters 1 and 2 only)

And as has been said before it will probably begin implementation in 2018.

This site can’t be reached

www.angelfire.com’s server DNS address could not be found.

->So I'll look at it later. And a lot of the things I got taught at uni already such as normal distribution, just haven't heard of "univariate" etc.

Are they actually gonna succeed implementing it in 2018? braintic voiced his doubts before.

Re: Announcement from BOSTES - significant change to calculus courses

Yes. I noticed that too.

I've changed the links:

That should do till I work out what is happening with angelfire.
Oh that doesn't seem too bad. I know most of this linear algebra I'm reading.

Still not sure about the new statistics though

Tywebb maybe host your HTML on Github; and host some of the hidden files on fourunitmaths.com

Question tywebb, what would you call your site?

I didn't make a statistics summary but you can get a pdf of

Spiegel, M.R., Statistics, McGraw-Hill, 1961

on the internet just like the other books I mentioned before.

I won't be putting stuff on github for now.
