No, all the log laws he used there work for any log base.
Oh ok..I kinda get it..so the only time you will need the base is when you are expanding or simplifying the log...but wen solving for an pronumeral it doesn't matter.

Yep so when manipulating equations you have to ensure that the bases are the same.

hmm first of all mind my stupidity. I have no idea what you did there...you did that without logs?
This approach, like rand-althor's, is the neatest and most "professional" way to do it. Logs and exponentials are closely related, one being the inverse of the other, so to speak.
