For an overview, the HTA Modern History Study Guide.

To go deeper in regards to the military and political side of things you can do no better than wikipedia. Contrary to its seemingly untrustworthy nature, wikipedia articles on esoteric subjects that are not well known by the general public are very accurate and very well written due to the debates that erudite folks have there before posting anything and their profound wealth of knowledge on the subject in question. Trust it. An article written by several people with different viewpoints is better than one from a mere single author.
There is not much in regards to the homefront for you to get a more profound knowledge of it. I recommend that if you do wish to get a deeper understanding to read all the textbooks you can. Some good ones to borrow and read on the homefront from my memory besides the HTA Modern History Study Guide is the one with this picture as the cover-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Armisticetrain_%28slight_crop%29.jpg- and the Retrospective one for Year 11-http://www.booktopia.com.au/retrospective-year-11-modern-history-ebookplus/prod9780731406845.html. Don't get Bruce Dennett's one. It's too short and superficial on the subject. Even he told me so in person. He says that his textbook is only meant to be a taken as a summary, a book to help you summarise your dot points--the things you really need to know. You are meant to expand on this knowledge with your own reading.

use Retrospective Year 11 Modern History from Jacaranda
use Evidence of War 3rd Edition- Studying the First World War through Sources (that should help a lot with source based questions, and should cover a few dot points)
