Any1 doing Bachelor of Commerce at Usyd or UNSW (1 Viewer)

hi ppl!
i wanna ask ppl who are doing this course, or who know some 1 who is doing this course, about, like do they like it? wat majors are u doing? im thinking of:
accounting n human resource management.

if i dont do this course at Usyd or UNSW i'd take B.commerce/B Science at UNSW, where i would like to do Human Resource management and Psychology.

A friend was telling me that Human Resource mgmt is quite boring.
wat do u think about it?

I'm sorry if i sound really silly...cuz I am not sure about what i want to do, n if i take commerce would i like it?

Commerce is hell boring in 1st year - the core subjects that is.
Human Resource Mgmt should be quite interesting, since it'd be different from ur other compulsory subjects. I do International Business as a major and its not as mundane as the other subj's I do

Would u like commerce....did u do Business Studies/Economics in the HSC? did u like them? coz its basically that, but in greater depth

yeah i did business studies this year. It was pretty ok. I did well throughout the year and knew my work well.

But i dont know if i love this subject!!!
n the thing im scared about is that, at school, i just had to do business as one subject but at uni i wud have it like as a whole thing!

i have 2 see now what im gunna do~

commerce is better at UNSW, right? well dats what i've heard.

Are there any good job opportunities for commerce?

no there are no good job opportunities for ppl with commerce degrees.....

HRM is apparantly pretty boring, thats what my friend who do it have said, at usyd u have to do industrial relations law and stuff with it which isnt the best ive heard

If u do an accounting major, theres basically a 96% chance u'll get a job when u graduate. How good/well paid that job is depends on other things

At UNSW, HRM and Industrial Relations are two seperate majors...I dunno much bout them

UNSW is better 4 commerce...right? well, thats what I've heard, wat do u guys think?

Yes, u can do a double major in Commerce, HRM & Accounting

And, trying not to be biased here, but UNSW does the have the reputation as being the best Faculty of Commerce and Economics in the South East Asian region

But yeah, i also think that psychology mite not be good 4 a person like me, cuz its like quite Negative, its kind of depressing!

I have no idea about psych
what kinda area do u want to eventually work in?
if its psych, then thats prolly a good combo, but if ur more inclined to work in a business related field, u'd be better off doing a more practical major, such as finance or accounting

i want 2 work in business...
i thought bout psyc n HRM cuz it wud be a good combination as when u go into business n manage people..n psych is related 2 people's behaviours
i hope accounting is not boring...i did it at school...n found it pretty good..

Also as a side note, u can probably do Accounting, HRM and Psych if u do Com/Sci, I'm not sure about this though, but I kno if u do Com/Arts u can do 3 majors.

Accounting...well if u've done it at school, u'll prolly find 1st semester pretty boring, since its the usual DR/CR journal entries and writing up financial statements, but it does get more interesting in 2nd semster with ethics, governance and managment accounting

i looked thru da UAC book....Macquire(is dat how we spell it?) anyways, they offer b.commerce too...n lots of other business courses...i wanna put dat in my preferences too..cuz in case...i dont get in UNSW..and i wanna fill dat space, really...wats da reputation of this uni??

not as good as Sydney and UNSW
they are renowned for their Actuarial Studies program though

ok...if we do two or more(3, as Minai said) majors...isnt it like gunna be too much work...n is it hard 2 cope?

3 only if u do a combined degree

If u do 2 majors, its the same amount of work as 1 major - see if u do 1 major, u have to make up the extra subjects by doing lots more electives, but if u do 2 majors, ur electives will be taken up by your second major - so its basically the same
