does anyone know of any which are decent in sofware coding + has a nice looking GUI, not some stupid visual basic screen :|

say im doing assignments on my computer, and @ 10pm there's a show on tv i wanna watch. I wanna set the time so this thing rings/chimes when its time for me to stop studying

There is one called saumrize, it can be altered to do what you want, it is very nice, but also very complicated.
