i decided to change majors today from acct to finance, anyhoo, are these the right FIRST YEAR classes for finance? same as the acct ones??

ACCT1501Accounting and Financial Management 1A
ECON1101Microeconomics 1
ECON1202Quantitative Methods A


thanks! we only get to specialise in finance in second year yeah?

those courses are the core courses that all econ and commerce people do. You then pick one elective..which you would pick a FIN course for a finance major

First years can pick FIN1612 as their elective (1st sem).

so i have to do the 4 core courses and if i want, a finance elective? would there be too many units, i'm do comm/law, not sure if it's going to overload.. btw, i have 15 hours excluding the finance elective

Plan Structure


Students must complete:
48 units of credit from the Finance list to fulfil requirements for a single Major.
42 units of credit from the Finance list to fulfil requirements for a double Major
FINS1613 and any three courses from Finance list to fulfil requirements for a minor
Students wishing to undertake a major in Finance complete the four required courses, and additional optional courses to make up 48 units of credit for a single major (42 units of credit are required for a double major) from the following, of which no more than 12 units may be Level 1 courses:

where it says Commerce/Economics Elective

you do your elective there (ie finance courses)

Students must complete:
48 units of credit from the Finance list to fulfil requirements for a single Major.

48UoC equals 8 courses (if they are 6UoC each) and therefore you are only allowed to do one major as there is only 8 elective spots to fill
