how strict are the exam invigilators on things like wearing school uniform and having photo ID with you at exams? cause apparently these things are required, but I was wondering how 'required' they really are.

No, it's all a big lie and the HSC is an enormous joke.

Well, I guess they do it so someone else cannot sit the HSC for you.

I sat my maths HSC last year and didn't have my photo ID thing with me, I presume the moderators had it. Also, nobody had to wear school uniform (maybe it's because it was a public school and we're lenient?), but it might be best to ask your school about it.

Not as serious as they say.

We had at least one phone go off and someone left their calculator at home so they were allowed to call their mum and she dropped it off during reading time. I doubt the school uniform deal would be held up that much - we had people in board shorts with thongs on and white singlets hahaha!

Hell we even had 6 people from school not turn up for their physics exam!

I didn't turn up to my 2U HSC exam in Year 10 - the Board doesn't care.
You still get a page made for you on Students Online - just says 'Non-Attempted' or something.
