its ridiculous picking watson.. i mean the guy is going well right now and yeh he may play better then hughes would of, but the fact remains hughes is the best up and coming batsman we have and you need to develop him, whilst watson is just injury-prone and sooner or later will get injured again no doubt. dropping hughes right now will kill his confidence and i mean, the guy is still averaging in the 50s whilst mike hussey is towards the end of his career and hasnt scored a hundred for a huge amount of time, i mean really, its time for him to go. it just seems merv and boonie have some notion that a player must be dropped before they can really improve, they have done it to just about every young player coming into the australian team, morons..

Hussey should be pissed off. This guy is a joke! The bubble burst a long time ago... I always have an issue with guys coming into the squad when their thirty odd, because although they have a good couple of years they are then found out... Drop Hussey... Put Clarke to 4 and shift North to 5, the put Watson at 6 and bring Hughes back...

FTR IMO Johnson should have been dropped. This is an Ashes series. If we were playing Pakistan and Johnson was struggling then you shoul persist, but this is the Ashes...

replace johnson with clarke.let watson open and if haddin is fit he can play as a specialist batsman with manou just behind him replacing north.as soon as lee is fit either siddle or hilfenhaus must go and id put my money on siddle tbh.id also entertain the possibility of dropping hussey, north back in so the outfit looks somewhat like this 1) Watson 2)Kattich 3)Ponting 4)Clarke 5)Haddin (he needs more time in the middle) 6) North 7) Manou 8) Lee 9) Hauritz 10) Stuart Clarke 11) Hilfenhaus.

Australia for the ashes!

geez, watson is bowling pies.
Jim said when he watched him bowl he looked very stiff and inconsistant, was unsure what his role would really be with four other bowlers in the side. Still give him time you never know, Mcgrath bowled god awful in his first game back from injury.

Watson just looked like he meandering in, without any real intent. Total contrast to Siddle.

I still don't understand why the selectors have an aversion to choosing Clark. His line and length, and ability to create pressure is unrivalled.

At the end of the day though, our batting is failing us. England's lower order shows more resistance than our middle order.

Manou and Haddin?
had haddin been fit id say play both.manou can bat and keeps much better than haddin and i think haddin is good enough to play as a specialist batsman considering we are a bit short on tour.

Om... ok... no. Haddin is a good keeper and above average batsmen but he is not good enough to play as a specialist bastmen. Manou is an average batsmen and an above average keeper. One or the other imo.
