I hear that the school sends assessment marks to the BOS. I wanted to know that does each subject send a seperate assessment mark and if they do is it an average of all ur assessments in that subjec?
And if its not an average, how is the assessment mark calculated coz im shitting myself coz in the assessment in term 1 of yr 12 (term 4 yr 11). I got like between 50-70 in maths ext 1 n ext 2
70-80 in phys
60-70 in chem
exactly 70 in eng adv
80-90 in bio.
( i cant remember exact mark so im juz sending in the ranges)
Is hope for a uai of 85-90 lost?

lol i no thers a lot of questions there but feedback would be much appreciated.
peace

hey mate
it all depends on how you grade goes as a whole really, and your ranks
im not an expert on the system but in relation to your marks, it depends how much weighting they carried for each...you probably still have over 50% of your assessment mark to go....so all hope is not lost i reckon.

The school assessment marks mean nothing, it is only the rank you are in a subject that is an important factor. So if you get the highest rank you will get the highest HSC mark as your moderated assessment mark, if you get the lowest rank for a subject you will get the lowest HSC mark as your moderated assessment mark.

For example, if you get 99 in your HSC exam mark and you came first out of your school, but since you were ranked 5th internally in your school you will get the 5th highest HSC exam mark, which is 95 as your moderated assessment mark, and you will keep your HSC exam mark, then they average those two marks to get your HSC mark i.e (99+95)/2=97

So your saying that if I got 19/20 for an assignment and came tenth out of ten. I would get a really cruddy mark?

If you came 10/10 at the end of all assessments, you would get the lowest HSC exam score from your school as your internal mark. But if you're coming last with 90% and above, chances are everyone's HSC marks will be excellent, so your internal marks won't be crap.

The moderated assessment is based on your HSC exam marks, not your raw internal (school) marks. So for example if you came last internally (in the school) you would get the lowest HSC exam mark that someone got but you would keep your own HSC exam mark, so if you got the lowest HSC exam mark, then that mark will equal to your moderated assessment.

The moral of this is, don't come last :p Try to be ranked high so you get the benefit even if you stuff up in the HSC exams
