This makes me wonder, so is everybody is doing extraordinarily well, or is it that only those who are dare to announce their results. Congrats to everyone for their achievements.

I just saw this:

1st Extension Maths (not including 4 unit people)
Just a pointer here, we Ext-2 Maths folks are only excluded from the internal ranks for the 2U assessments. I would expect your school to have insisted upon the Ext-2 students sitting the 2U assessments for the first term or two like most others schools do. It's been suggested that we should all keep track of our internal ranks because it does impact our final UAI calculation. If you are doing that, then you really should be including 'the 4-unit people' in the ranking for Ext-1 to avoid being surprised in finding your overall rank to be a few places lower than what you were expecting based on termly ranks that excluded the Ext-2 participants.

^ yea i suggest you include 4unit ppl to keep in perspective.

in the hsc you will be ranked with 4u ppl. excluding them doesn't give you the right picture.

Lols I understand where you are coming from.

No matter how good a mark you get, you always want something more, unless you get full marks of course. :D

Wouldn't you be better off dropping back to two unit maths?

I got my chemistry assesment back from term 4 last year
Mark : 28/36
rank : 15/28
It's 15-20% of the internal mark (I can't remember)
It's the first assesment
I didn't study properly at that time because I was busy with my preparation to go to overseas LOL
I felt that I could do much better if I had studied 3-4 days before the assesment

Is it still possible to climb up to the top 3 or even the first?
I need to get very high rank because I'm in a public school
pls answer
I'm scared as hell :(

Doesn't look like it to me.
If you get 5% raw in ext 2 maths not even scaling will save you.

The other two results would scale to about 70 so that's not too bad for the time being

Man up. If you go really damn well in your assessments and better than the rest of your class, then yes, it is possible, because there are still many assessments left for you to catch up on that result.

It's a 20% assessment. THere's 80% left in the course to assess and half of that will most likely be the trial HSC. You have got a fairly decent score for starters...

But in saying that you are going to have to ace the half yearly, who knows you might even go up a few ranks this time around if you are better prepared....hey you're midrange and aiming for the top its not going to be easy by any means but definitely possible

I read that completely wrong. I read it that he/she got 45/45 in the exam, not ranked 45th. Lol @ me.

we're compelled to do the 2U course as well, that is, until we, and the teachers are confident with how we're going.
Ext2 students should generally be very high 2u and ext1 students, and your marks aren't reflecting that..
so you must be going to a selective school?
otherwise, i cant see why you would be allowed to be doing those courses with those kinds of rankings...
i'm with watatank...
drop to 2U..
focus on your other units..
[that said, i dont know which school you're at, what kind of standard your school has etc...]

Pretty much the only students from our school who do extension 2 maths have already done 2 unit maths in either year 10 or 11, so unless the student is thinking about dropping, they don't have to take the 2 unit tests.

Some schools are so horrible that they don't even grasp the concept of acceleration.
