I used to be top 50 in the school for the past 5 years. Not sure what happened.

If I kill the externals, by getting like 93+ for all subjects will I be able to get over 96 atar?

Yeh I wish I could restart Year 12. Can't believe what I've done to my life. I will never forgive myself.
By the way, is there any chance of me getting 96+ ATAR if I demolish the HSC? If there is, then what marks would I need to achieve?

Thanks

Im not sure, but given its baulkam hills (median ATAR is around 98) I guess it could happen. Just try and remember its really difficult to "ace" the externals, you can work twice as hard as you have been all year and still only slightly improve. Also, the HSC isnt as big a deal as it seems when you are doing it. If you stuff up, there are always other options open to you.

there culd be a chance if ur grade is really strong this year and ur assessment marks are respectable.
id say u wuld have to focus on ur non maffs subjects and aim to get like 92-93 in the hsc for each of them. and english aim to get like a 92 as well. this might get u over the line for a 96. also remember that most unis have bonus points so even if u fuk up u shuld be able to get into ur course with a atar above 90.

Yeh that's true but I think if I put my mind to it I can definitely achieve 92+ for all subjects in the HSC because tbh I didn't really study for any of my exams. Thanks for the feedback.

It's a shame I have to rely on others to get me where I want. I guess I can just try my hardest for the externals and hope for the best. Thanks for the feedback.

Not being slack or anything but im pretty sure thats what happened..

Most people dont even try to do well (ie study) at our school from yr 7 to 11, my overall rank was 150/180 at the end of year 10 but 27/195 for half yearly ranks for year 12

If you want to get a good atar, convince all the lazy/partying/aspiring musician people at the bottom of the grade to study for 6 weeks of their entire high school life and get a deccent mark in the hsc. (At least high band 5)
Then everyone, including you, willl get better internal marks and hence better atars.
And we could also beat ruse while we're at it

Also, last year didn't 90% of ext2 maths kids get band 6?

93% in 2009. Only 63% in 2010.

"Students achieved outstanding results in all three Mathematics courses. In Ext 2, 63% of candidates (compared to 37% in the State) achieved results in the highest band and 100% of the students achieved in the top two bands. For the Ext 1 course, 71% of the state achieved the highest band, E4, compared to 37% across the state. Students studying the 2 unit Mathematics course also performed extremely well with 61% of students achieving a Band 6 result compared to only 19% across the State. The school mean was 14 marks above the State mean. Furthermore, over 97% of the students achieved a Band 5 or 6."

last year's report on our school. with the dud grade.
