wow i didnt spend that much when i bought half a dozen new computer parts.
FX-57 still retails around $1,600 at alot of places, so one can only imagine how much the dual-core FX-60 will ship at.
If only I was rich, wouldn't mind a FX-60, 2GB DDR500, SLi 512MB GTX system right about now.

I hope not though; the last thing poor uni students like us want to hear is computer equipment getting more expensive.

It's not really worth getting though, since AMD is soon switching to their new socket 940 (M2), and changing to a 65 nm process. (Intel's Extreme Edition 955 is already on 65nm).
They are expected to move to M2 by mid this year -- I hope they also change to 65nm at the same time. If so I will definitely be upgrading!

Not necessarily. The FX-60 is obviously targeted towards extreme gamers, so just because they're not going M2 doesn't necessarily matter much, since many gamers won't tend to upgrade anyway until the time they build another PC (due to potential hazards relating to bottlenecking).MoonlightSonata said:

Well at wholesale price the FX60 is costing $1549.90 with a RRP of $1,799.
As JKDDragon said, many gamers aren't worried about futureproofing because the fact is that its impossible to be completely futureproof and using myself as an example, I tend to build a new computer roughly once a year because of that.

Extreme gamers may be an exception. Yet even then it would be wiser to wait 4 months for a vastly superior system with a necessary change in technology. It is true that it is impossible to completely future-proof your system, but this is not merely taking a step up, for example by purchasing the latest graphics card. This is in fact a leap up that is well worth waiting for, in my mind. Keep in mind the expense ($1600) and the small wait.
