ATTN: Speculative Fiction Students (1 Viewer)

Hey guys,

I know there's already been a thread about this so I'll be brief.

As we are all doing speculative fiction, I was talking to my teacher and she'd like to know what schools are doing it.

There is not very much uploaded on the site about speculative fiction so I thought we could all swap notes or the like ?

Hey Hey, I am a Spec Fic girl and I go to Albury High School...(border of NSW/Vic). We have 6 students in our class.

Fairfield High. Its in Sydney's south west.

My ext class has only three people, so we all basically know the same thing.

There's a couple of our classes doing it...
I'm guessing about 50 people? I might be waaay off there - maybe it's closer to 30...

We're doing spec. fic. at St Francis Xavier's, there are 27 people taking the course.

What set texts have you done?

We've done LOTR fellowship, Dune and Handmaid's Tale.

Also, what related texts are you ppl doing? I'm focusing on the science fiction aspect of spec fic so I'm doing Neuromancer (novel) and Ghost in the Shell (film).

I've got my trial on monday and I still haven't decided which two set texts I'm doing.

Hawkesbury High are doing it.. there's 7 people in our class.
We more or less gave up on Cyteen and moved to Dune

Wow, that's daunting.

There are two classes here doing it at Cherrybrook Tech (Cherrybrook). I'd say that's about 30ish.

We have five students in our Extension English Class, this is the first year that our school has offered English Extension, so we basically have very little knowledge about the course.

Fairvale High's Doin it. I've read Handmaid's Tale, great book, Almost done with Dune thats also very good, LOTR is always good, cant get my hands on Cyteen. Anyone know it's where abouts?

yeah, smurg is right.. Mr. Thornhill is teaching Spec Fiction the other teacher wearing glasses is teaching crime and tragedy or something like that..

Omg, its getting like soo bad, cos my friends left the class... so, it really makes me want to think if i should leave, but then i really like the subject, and mr.thornhill is close to being like the best englsih teacher next to bennets or henry..
