correct mentality.gerhard said:why would i care more about australians than people that live in other countries?
We could become a banana republic if CAD from buying imports => external instability leading to economic crisis.gerhard said:i was trying to think of a pun with making bananas really cold but i couldnt be bothered
i think buying the product of best quality and price (disregarding the country of origin) IS helping the australian economy and community in general, because then they can be more competitive internationally, which means more money is sent backEnlightened_One said:Yeah, buying Australian is a good way to go because the money is sent back into the Australian community. I was interested to in Dick Smith's proposal for Australian only isles but they disappeared. It is hard to find Australian products on shelves. But then again, as a uni student (and obviously cheap), I don't care so much for the brand as the price, which I think is an obvious problem in trying to convince people to buy Australian.
I fail to see your logic. How can sending money out of Australia help our economy? You claim that it will make us more competive, but because of our standard of living, if we want to compete with the third world countries who work for a dollar a day then we have to do the same. Do you really want to degenerate our standard of living?yy said:i think buying the product of best quality and price (disregarding the country of origin) IS helping the australian economy and community in general, because then they can be more competitive internationally, which means more money is sent back
Thanks. I thought that you can't edit polls.Generator said:New poll.
Correct. This is a different thread to the one that you created - after creating the new poll, I moved the relevant posts across and deleted the original thread.Sparcod said:Thanks. I thought that you can't edit polls.
Are you certain? I thought China's distinct advantage is that it has a huge population with a low standard of living and thus is dominant in the textile and manufacturing industries, hence why things say 'made in China' on them. I didn't think China needed to outsource?Sparcod said:Back to that foreign invasion thinggy, China is winning. But most goods produced in China are done by non-Chinese companies.
