Science is closer to 24, and med sci'd be about the same as sci I'd imagine.

yeh med science i think is like 26 hours (first year):
Physics: 3 lec + 1 tut + 1 lab = 7 hours a week
Chem: same as phys = 7 hours a week
Biol: 3 lec + 1 lab = 6 hours a week
2 units of Math: 4 lec + 2 tut = 6 hours a week

Comm/Law is more like 17-21 hrs a week. Dunno whether it get's the 27hrs with the other combinations though.

How bout you go look it up yourself? Go search your first semester units here, then add their hours up.

I just added up my arts and law units for semester 1, and it seems I'll be doing 15 hours a week, which seems rather light for a combined degree.

Combined degrees tend to have the average number of hours of the constituent degrees. Having more is a myth.

Cool, thanks. How long are lectures normally? It says for one unit that there's '3 lec & 2-3 hours prac/week', so I just wanna make sure.

if it says 3 lectures then 2 might be single hours and one might be a double. What subject is it?

Usually if somethings more than 1 hour they'll specify as such.

The lectures would be one hour. The pracs for first year science units are usually 3 hours (except MBLG1001, which is 5 hours).

For Youth Allowance if your enrolled in full time Uni study, the number of hours you do doesn't matter. The number of hours only influences whether you get it and how much you get only if you're going to Tafe.

Your HECS weightings only matter, which is stated on your enrolment confirmation.

Oh ok really? the form just says there to estimate the no of hours you study per week (as in, formal coursework), after asking whether or not you're a full-time student. So I wasn't very sure what to do.
