Yeah i was curious whether it is true what people say that the more prestigious awards you get from school in yr 12 the higher chance you can get into the things u want such as universities etc...Is it true or not?
pls help me understand....thank you! =)

Not really, in Australia most courses are solely dependent upon your ATAR.

Ah not really.
I guess if your doing well at school and getting lots of awards your probably going to perform well in the hsc and get a high atar and get there.

But unis don't look at anything but atar (unless your doing a course with other special requirements)

If your going for a job or something they look nice :)
I got an accounting cadetship and I had dozens of awards (ie, first in course within the school, high achiever etc) that really impressed people on my resume/at my interviews .

It's good for scholarships/colleges.

Also quite useful for rural students where extra curriculars can give them better leverage for course entry or special rural scholarships that are not ATAR dependent.
