B Sci cutoff (1 Viewer)

Wow, STILL no posts in here...

You all know I love UTS but know jack all about the undergrad school, so I need your help (especially you Ian and Kathleen!).

I'm looking at the straight B Sci and would like your opinions on its relative popularity. Basically I'm worried about cutoff jumps and want to know what people think it may hit this year. Will it stay withing the obligatory 2 percentile points or will it jump another 5?

I don't think it would jump another 5, unless science gets popular quickly. Most people at UTS prefer to do the more specialised science courses. This is just a straight BSc which you can choose to major in chem, physics, bio or whatever they offer.

Thank you very much for replying. I've noticed that UTS science isn't all that popular, and I'm curious as to why. The specialties (such as "applied physics" and "mathematics") have even lower cutoffs than the straight degree.

But doing a major in science means your specialising in that major ie same as doing a specialised course (such as applied physics)???

what's the chances of getting into UTS science if the 2003 cut off was 77.6

and this year my UAI is like .30 away from 80???

Ah Lexi... its a higher cutoff cause there are more people who are interested with the straight degree as it is alot more flexi... when u do a straight degree you have an option of choosing your own submajors and electives... however if you do Bsci in Mathematics your subjects are pretty much made up for you already....

if u look at the subjects you gotta study for b Science at UTS, its pretty sucky compared to the other unis.
Science at uTS jumped up from 66 to 77

man its nothing drastic man, they cut places last year too, but it just wasnt as hyped in the media as this year.
same shit man. things will go up by 2 or 3 or down by 2 or 3 or even by 10 if its IT hahaha

i'm wondering the same thing. i'm considering going to UTS for the international studies course, but i can get into other unis science for sure. would UTS be a stupid choice then? what's wrong with it?

Well, I'm in the BScBA now and I'm loving it, I really am. Even before starting the language major I've already met a whole bunch of great people (most notably those back from in country study) and I feel like I made the right choice coming to UTS.

Lucy, which science major are you looking at? There are some courses where you'd be best placed at USyd, some at UNSW and others you just can't go past UTS (like Nano, the one I'm doing). Since the International Studies component is secondary to the Science component, it's important you know you'll be happy doing science at UTS before making up your mind.
