i was thinking of choosing this but im not sure how it will be so i was wondering if u guys could me out.

firstly, is this course hard and time consuming? What are the job prospects at the moment and how high will the pay be?

In your opinion, if i had a choice between pharmacy and this, which one should i pick?

hey ok firstly i dont do that course i just finished my second year of B.Sc (molecular biotechnology) specialising in Pharmacology so i dable in molecular bio and pharmacy but i can tell you about the MBLG subject and a little about pharmacology

Ive taken all three of the molecular biology and genetics subjects (MBLG) and to be honest its my most hated subject. It is hard and demanding you have five hour labs which I hate. But the theory is interesting, although im pretty sure its the subject that expects me to know the most information and its so detailed. If DNA is your deal then take it, if you want to know every single thing about transcription, translation, replication etc etc.... and the 1000s of lab techniques used to study molecular bio then take it. Some of its good obviously i find the biotech stuff interesting and genetics has its moments although im pretty sure we all know more information than is healthy for ones mental status about the fruit fly. I know a girl the molecular biology and genetics B.Sc and im pretty sure so far shes taken all the same subjects as me excpet for pharmacology, so I think you take as much Chem as I do, so you would want to like chemistry too. The thing with MBLG is you have to be interested in it, because it requires lots of study and not just in stuvac you have to stay on top of things but some of the lecturers like Dale are amazing, some can empty lecture theatres with a single sentence. Thats just my opinion on the subject and honestly im shit at it im pretty sure they marked my exams wrong because they were dumb enough to give me a credit. As far as job prospects go, labs research and labs im not really sure.

On the flip side, Pharmacology I love love love. Its so interesting not nearly as hard as MBLG but still challenging, you have to memorize hundreds of drug names. I find easier to learn because its more applicable, its easier to think about the mecanism of action of a drug in my body, than the segragation of my chromosomes if you get me. But that might just be me plus i get way better marks in it so im biased. I would assume pharamcy has better job prospects too.

Best of luck in making your choice if it was mine i would take pharmacy although like i said i dont actually do either course. If i could have my time over i would scrap all my molecular bio and biotech and take as much pharmacology as I could.
