For all those visual people here,
What movies stick in your head for having fantastic Design (set, costume even cinematography)

For me..
-romeo and juliet (baz luhrmann version)
-marie antoinette
-memoirs of a gesiha
-series of unfortunate events
-moulin rouge
-house of flying daggers (best cienmatography!)
-A beautiful mind

Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events (So awesome)
V For Vendetta (A revolution without dancing is not worth having)
The Prestige (Are you watching closely)
El Laberinto del Fauno (won 2007 oscar for prod. design)
Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb (Stanley kubrick's blackest comedy)
The Dark Crystal (Jim henson at his best! No human on screen)
Charlie and the chocolate Factory (burton again)
MirrorMask (SO ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!)
Gladiator (won a few oscars)
The Lord Of The Rings (won an absolute truck-load of oscars for everything from 2001 - 2003)
The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe (Won 2006 oscar for prod. design or something like that)
Babe; The Gallant Pig (Won 1996 oscar for VFX)
The Adventures Of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert (Won 1994 oscar for costume)
Macbeth (Won 2006 AFI award for production design - i think)

I am a purveyor of excellence in film and theatre - hence why i have a very long list!

I personally liked the design for Pan's Labyrinth and Schnidler's List
schindlers's list gave me nightmares. it's a film too good to forget.
