I am deciding what laptop to get myself next year..I cna spend up to 3000$ and need a fast computer (preferably pentium 4 with centrino...) that I can use for uni, I also need a dvd burner and good graphics card...

any suggestions? best brands?

Give it a bash first. People tend to come up with similar needs on this forum (I wonder why!! j/k) so generally the only thing that changes is the price range

you prolly looking for stats around a Pentium M 2.0GHz with a Mobile Radeon 9700.
remember to check the resolution of the screen and make sure it is high.
You could prolly afford a gig of ram.
Also, make sure you get a 5400rpm harddrive.

Although this wont be the heavyest laptop, it isn't something you want to be carrying in your bag all day.

I don't think searching the forums will help since with $3000 you looking for the latest technology.

Depends what you're going to use it for. Best for cost ? Gaming ? Heh, there really isn't anything that's great for _everything_.

i just need a fast computer for internet, music, dvds and the occasional game


and yea i want to get a laptop that will last me for a few years...
