My ATAR was much higher than I expected and I am seriously confused about what to preference (almost to the point where I am stressing out thinking about the decisions I have to make!). I also have eligibility for several more extreme sections of the Education Access Scheme, which means I have even more flexibility in choosing a media/law degree from one of several different unis.

Is there anyone out there who has feedback on these degrees? I'm quite set on being a journalist (although that could change next year if I select the course and it's not how I thought it would be. Thus, I'm also considering a broader BA in Media).

BA Communications (Journalism) / B of Laws at UTS (I have guaranteed entry)
BA (Media and Communications) / Law at USYD
BA Media / B of Laws at Macq Uni (I have guaranteed entry)

I have also been considering combining with international studies. I have a stronger interest in media than law, so is it wise to combine these two when I could risk losing a sub major in a media degree? I'm so confused!!!!

thanks!

The Communications faculty at UTS is highly specialised and reputatable which is why the media degrees are already broken into the major for you. Since it is media/journalism you are wanting to head into I would recommend UTS because UTS Communications is arguably the most renowned in the industry, offering specialised degrees alongside lots of interning opportunities (my girlfriend interned at the biggest publisher in Sydney in her first year).

Usyd is great if you want to put more emphasis on you law degree, but the only small issue with doing media there is that it is an Arts degree with a generalised major (Media and Communications). You could add on journalism there (i think as a minor though iirc), but you would be doing this from the start of your degree at UTS.

Not really sure about the International studies part but to my understanding, Macq is the place to be for it.

I think any 3 would be a great choice - did you attend any of the open days and prefer any uni?

oh wow thanks!
I did attend the UTS and USYD open days and I was less than impressed with USYD - seemed a bit traditional and boring (but I guess that just could have been because the guy talking was a bit of a drone). UTS seemed like a much more innovative/forward thinking course and everyone I met there seemed to love it! I guess I never really considered USYD because I thought I would never get in.
Hmm, UTS sounds like the best course for me! thanks very much for your help :)

UTS sounds like the best course for you! I completely agree with Crobat- UTS is renowned for Communications and if that is where your passion lies, then by all means, go for it! I have a close friend who does Combined Law at UTS and absolutely loves it. As you said, UTS is very 'forward thinking' and innovative, as well as modern in it's teaching methods. I would highly recommend it for you :)
