for work exp, wouldnt it be better to go to a place where you are most likely considering work in the future?

Working in the sales industry, IMO is the best work experience, as it helps you develop your interpersonal, communication skills, how to become goal orientated and not give a shit what anyone thinks, as you learn how to overcome all the negative connoations people assoicate with it and you. Also it teaches you how to sell, which is a vital asset that you can have when working, as you sell yourself every single day. For example, when you go into an interview, your basically selling why you have the ability to add value to that organisation through your services. Although, the above only comes about, when you actually are focused on wanting to become successfully with it and not how shit it is when you are new to the industry, which a majority of people do.

Retail teaches you shit all; most of the skills are not of much value, besides you being able to add it onto your resume.
