Too ambiguous, rock encompasses practically everything with drums in it.

"rock" is such a general area...there are so many different types of rock....but i think all the greats have been mentioned....THE WHO, led zepplin, the beatles, jimi hendrix, ac/dc, U2, queen, the clash, living end, creedence clear water, janis joplin(the queen of "rock chick"), pink floyd, the rolling stones, the doors.....come to think of it most of the best rock music came from the 60's and 70's.........i should have been born then....*tear*

Experimental Rock = Radiohead

Gothic Rock = The Cure (ok, not 100% gothic rock)

Glam Rock = Queen (to an extent)

Alternative Rock = A Perfect Circle

Grunge Rock = Alice In Chains

Funk Rock = CAKE

Influential = The Beatles (Before the went "psychadelic")

Australian Old School = AC/DC

..And I want to chuck in Janes Addiction and The Doors and Blind Melon just cuz i like them.

wow... im surprised so many people have said pearl jam... i have only met like one or two other people who actually like them.

Pearl Jam are gods. but there are plenty of other good bands out there... even recent ones. these are some that come to mind...
