Hi guys i need some help for bio, it would be very helpful to drop how u study for bio.

Here some context:
  • I have basic understanding of all modules but i want to have a in depth understanding
  • If i want an in-depth understanding i know how to do it, issue is that its lengthy and doesn't really give me skills
  • I can make notes and in-depth understand the subject (again very lengthy) but it doesn't ensure i know how to apply it
  • I cannot do past papers without in-depth understanding of content, because then to me it feels shallow and i much prefer understanding everything about a concept (trust me ive tried and it just doesn't work learning content via exams)
  • I have roughly 4 weeks, so far i think i've covered module half or mod 7 and a bit of mod 6 and like 75% of mod 5 in depth in terms of content
  • but im not so sure how my application is because i was very confident in module 5 but we had a test at school and i ended up getting my questions wrong, its not that my answers were wrong its more that i didn't have the skill to answer what the question wanted, honestly that test demotivated me a lot because i was so sure i did good
What do i do, how can i improve, other than my oddly specific requirement it would help if you guys can list how you study for bio that would be more than enough help, dont mention how cooked i am pls trust me i know lmfao.

the most helpful thing i have done in bio to boost my grades is to literally memorise my bio notes (essentially memorizing the textbook). a lot of people in bio don't prioritise memorization - but it is so intrinsically important to a subject that is so content heavy.

like you said, mindlessly writing tests without knowing the content is so useless to studying. if you had to prioritize learning the content or writing practice tests, LEARN THE CONTENT. for all three of my year 12 exams, i spend around 2 weeks memorising my notes word for word, then i spent only about 1/2 days on practice tests - i still came first every time. trust me, it works.
