I am entering to this competition and I would like to see others who signed up for the competition.

I entered, but all of Year 11 Biology in my school has an excursion to the Australian Museum on the same day, so I don't know exactly what time/date the group of 4 would be doing it.

Does anyone also know what level of result is needed for HD, D, Credit or other awards?

I am just getting over 70% in the multiple choice and I reckon that will only get me a credit...

It's like a UNSW Science Competition where you do testing. You get something like HD, D, Credit or Participation. If you are really good, you might be picked as one of the 20 people to compete for national places.

Help me with Q 12, 18 16 & 42, I don't understand the question, I have no idea basically. Please help me with any of the questions.

By the way, what's C3 and C4 Photosynthesis?

Marcquelle - ask your Science teachers. But the exam is very expensive for the school, and they usually only let the first few in the grade do each Olympiad (at our school, they only let the Top 5 in each of the Sciences do it, and if there were any places left, they offered it to people 'lower' down on the chain).

I didn't pay. I always thought it was free though when my teacher asked me to compete in the olympiad. Same for Chemistry. But I am not doing Chem, Chem sucks.

Well, firstly, your school would actually need to be part of the Olympiad program for you to participate, to say nothing of the fact that papers went out to all schools about three weeks ago, so if they haven't already signed up for it, then there's very little chance that your school can have any students participating.

By the way, what's C3 and C4 Photosynthesis?

C3 and C4 refers to the method of carbon fixation in photosynthesis in different types of plants. Dont worry if you dont know it, its nothing that gets taught in high school.

Basically C3 photosynthesis occurs in most plants. C4 plants are adapted to living in hot regions with intense sunlight as their stomata partially close in the day when it is hot, so that transpiration is reduced.

We're starting H.S.C Bio next week, even though for the past three weeks, we've been doing nothing but Moodle Assignments, which no one ever does anyway, and haven't really covered anything past the Archaea topic in "Life on Earth." How are we coming Top 5 in the state for Bio again?

If you're getting 70% now you'll be assured a position in the national team.

That's just on Multiple Choice. I would probably flunk the next sections.

Well, our head Science teacher says, we'd be lucky to get 40% of the questions given, and that would be a great result, so I'm assuming a score of 70% or higher would get you a prize, or callback or whatever. It depends on the other students taking this exam.

To get a HD for UNSW Maths comp you only need around 18/40 marks which is a lot less than 50%, a score greater than 24/40 would get you a prize

Are you allowed to bring aids (textbooks etc) because they were allowed in the UNSW Maths Comp?
