Ok Quick question

With regard to System Flowcharts,
There is a symbol that is like a cylinder (Direct access STorage Device).
Can we or can we NOT use this for a non-direct access storage device?

And why do they have Online Storage symbol but not an offline storage?!?!

Bleh!

ah no no no

Because the cylinder is representing direct access storage medium!! aka a hard drive a hard Drive! , YOU CANNOT USE THIS FOR A NON-DIRECT ACCESS STORAGE , why would you? this is representing direct access.. data that can be accessed from any point

for SEQUENTIAL ACCESS (aka non-direct access, storage that is gay and must be accessed in zehr continious data stream meaning to find one piece of data that may be right at the end of tape, knowing its there you would still have to go through all the other data to get to it .. haha Owned :D) there is a seperate symbol, its a magnetic tape ... it looks like a SPEECH BUBBLE..

as for the online storage symbol and there being no offline storage symbol, ehh technically cant a hard drive(direct access) or magnetic tape(sequential access) be removed and considered as OFFLINE STORAGE?
