Hey, could anyone please help me with a survey for my PIP? Its only one question. Its to show continuity/change in a particular funeral custom as an example. Thanks in advance. :p

Would you wear black to a funeral? Why/why not?

yes, as a sign of mourning.
however, i usually wear a colour with it, i dont do the all black (so like black pants and jacket, and a blue top or something)

that being said, my mum once wore a 'life...be in it' shirt to a funeral (not realising)

yes, mainly because it would be ridiculous to wear anything colourful. So its more of a "no-choice" matter than any symbolism in the colour black.

The only reason I would wear black is because it is the accepted tradition. At my funeral people can wear whatever they fuckin please =P

I wouldn't wear anything really bright but it seems to be acceptable not to wear black. I don't think it's necessary.

I think since funerals are a celebration of someone's life, you have to dress respectfully, but I don't think it's completely necessary to wear all black. Something smart casual is usually suffice.

Yes I would wear black. Maybe a white shirt with everything else being black. Black is symbolic of death so yeah. I wouldn't be preparing myself for a fancy dress party. It is suppose to be a celebration of the deceased's life, not death so anything colourful would be disrespectful in western culture.
On the other hand however, some asian cultures wear white to the funeral. It's symbolic of death in eastern culture. :)

it depends on the person....
for my gran's every1 wore black
but for the funeral of a girl in my year, they wanted us 2 wear colours, but her funeral was on her bday tho, so it was more of a celebration then a memorial

I would, or a plain suit (like light grey/brown) just not something colourful.

I would wear something *nice* NOT black :)
At one funeral the deceased requested that my sister to wear this new dress she had bought, with fishnets and doc martens.
At another we all got dressed up like it was a party, heaps of balloons (plus a motorcycle gang to carry the brightly painted coffin, empty hearse full of balloons and lots of happy tears) :)

Yes, I would wear black unless I was requested otherwise. I really don't think there's any other colour for the moment.

Anything muted and quite, like black, grey, navy , lavender, light brown.

Sometimes its a good idea to wear sunglasses (some people don't like to publicize their grief).

white is traditionally for weddings. As said somewhere above, it depends on the request. I know some funerals dont require you to wear black, but wear a balck band around your head with casual. But generally, i would wear black
