Does anyone know of anyone who actually has classes there? It's across from where I live and I have a good view of it from my bedroom window and I never see anyone there lol!!! Anyone got any clue about it?

We don't have a real Arts faculty, and hence no real Arts Students. We do however have those wannabes in the humanities faculty (they're all "communications" students or something) and I think the biggest wannabe is that girl from Socialist Alliance who scares the shit out of me whenever I see her. [shudder]

Blackfriars looks nice, but I don't remember what it's for. Some artsy thing (but not actually arts, because we don't have arts). I know postgrads can live there.

Hey, don't be knocking my faculty!!

The communications degrees are bachelor of arts in communication. Hence, we are arts students. We are just glorified arts students!!!

We do lots of artsy subjects like political/cultural/historical stuff....

All I know about Blackfriars is that there is a postgrad residence there and a childcare centre lol. I should go walk around there one day.

And we embrace the arts student lifestyle of sitting on aour arses drinking coffee all day instead of achieving anything constructive:p Gosh it's fun sitting around having a chat and watching all the proper students work around you!

And it'll be even more fun when us proper students can sit around and chat in cafés, with all the other people we met in uni who also went on to get careers, whilst waited on by those shifty "humanities" (not arts) students who so gleefully did nothing at uni. :p

:p It was pretty harsh, wasn't it? I must say not having any exams and getting seven week breaks does sound tempting, but I'm kept in check by my passionate loathing of weekly essays and predictable political discussions.

If I've got to do anything even remotely artsy, I'll take Law.

hey!

b. design (visual communication) / b. arts (international studies)

well, so it's not a proper arts degree, but still...

and some of the smartest, hardest-working people i know are arts/communications students!

(conversely, some of the dumbest, laziest people i know are engineering and science students.)

I covered that prospect already :p

And the "B Arts" courses at UTS are only so named for lack of something better - International Studies is covered by the IIS. Comminucations is covered by HSS Faculty. My point is simply that we don't have a proper, centralised Arts faculty. Everything else is just banter. :p

I wish they'd remove "B Arts" from the International studies degree... the last thing I want is to be labelled an arts student.... all those wankers in the building 6 cafe sitting around stroking their egos... *shudder*

IntStuds is an arts course though, there's really no more appropriate name (except the UNSW BIntStuds, which is just cumbersome). Thing is you won't be an arts student, you'll be an internationalist business student. :p
