For the cheaper cars I'd pick BMW over Benz- ie. 1 series > A class, 3 series > C class, and X5 > M class; but then, once you're in the >$150k range, I'd stick to Benz; whether it be the new S500; or better still, a CL55 ... but then CL55 vs. M6 is a pretty tough call!

... as for quality of 7 series BMWs. Yeh I can vouch for the "it's a bit dodgy"... out of the three which my uncle owns, they all have a problem somewhere arather... whether it be the rear seat electronic reclining controls don't work, or the rear sunshade blind doesn't work, or the TV antenna/reception doesn't work, etc... and then the fit/finish isn't quite as good (the glovebox doesn't shut properly), etc... The S500 and S320 however have much better quality interiors in comparison.

BMW's are my choice, but there are a few nice mercs getting around, most average mercs are slow.

Average mercs are slow. But their expensive ones I think are superior to BMWs aren't they? As in.. a CL65 > M6.

Hahaha. That V12 is superior to pretty much any mass produced engine you might think of...
Though the CL65 AMG is also significantly more expensive than the M6 (around twice, if I'm not mistaken).

the S class is hot. i like old school beemers, but only like the oldschool mercy that petar13 posted. there are alot more mercies that i like than the beemers. besides the Z4 with/without hardtop and the M3, not any new ones, maybe even the M5 i don't much like beemers.

The BMW V12s aren't too shabby either though- but I think performance wise, the Benz ones are better.

The CL65 AMG is $470k-$480k. The M6 is more like $250k. Guesstimates, but I reckon I'm not too far off.
DaddyK, that's an M3 in your pic, not a 323i (with the wide body kit and five-lug wheels). Far more expensive.
