Musharraf staying as the head of Pakistan is in the national interest of both India and Pakistan atleast for the near future. Pakistan's economy has been doing quite well recently. It is in India’s interest that Pakistan has a growing economy which would lead to reduction in poverty and create more employment. When this happens there would be fewer younger people willing to take terrorism and we will have less shit infiltrating into Kashmir and pakistan will also suffer less in terms of terrorism as there will be less home grown terrorist. Right now Pakistan has hardly done anything to dismantle the terrorist camps in the azad Kashmir. But it is much better then what it was 5 yrs back.

Though musharraf is no saint either. When India’s prime minister was in Pakistan for a peace meet, it was under the order of musharraf that the militants as well as Pakistan’s soldiers attacked the part of kargil. I have Pakistani friends and when it comes to the issue of Kashmir we have different opinions. Yet all of them agree that kargil was a monumental error on Pakistan's side. It achieved nothing and it was the biggest political and military blunder. It was one of the main reasons for the military coup later on.

Here is some info on the kargil war - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kargil_War

imho Pakistan dont have a chance militarily to ever win Kashmir. There have been 4 wars till now and it has achieved nothing. India is militarily much more powerful and it will remain that way. That is one of the reasons the infiltrations started since 1989. It has been more then 15 yrs since then and it has achieved nothing as well . imo the current LOC(line of control) will eventually become the permanent border between India and Pakistan.

We have 150 million Muslims in India and they are as much Indians as any Hindu. Muslims in India are proud to be Indians and perhaps India is the only country where Muslims are a minority yet considered same as any other citizen and are not considered outsiders. Among the current generation of Hindus and Muslims there is hardly any difference between them and they get along well most of the time. Of course there are bad apples everywhere and India is no different.

Too true, and well said. Cuturally indian hindus and muslims are very similar despite the fact that they both follow different religions. indian muslims do follow arraned marriage principles.
