Last time I started at a Uni, I went to all the o-week shit and it was cool, esp. the pub-crawls. Point is, I have now changed jobs and will be starting as an academic at USyd. You think a 41 year old academic (no matter how cool) turning up at O-week functions might be just that little bit tacky?

I'm doing Arts/Commerce.

Thought so. That's OK then, I'll just see if I can drag some academics along for the odd drink - if I can find any non-boring ones at USyd

Accounting - yeah, don't say it, I know :-| . But they're making me teach postgrad this semester, which is fine - I might manage to get to do the oddundergrad lecture here or there.

Scoff, you don't type like a 40 year old... tho I checked out your website and you seem fairly legit. I guess you're just one of them eccentric lecturers? Should be an interesting addition to the accounting faculty :/

A Ph.D. can be fun. So long as you have a real life as well

I'm not sure if I have the drive (and doubt will have the time) to write a book about something, especially in the field of marketing, which is rather developed already.
Does a phd always have to be in written form? I wouldn't mind producing a video-thesis, I suppose.
