Hi.

Curious as to how indepth we should know the brain? I know the basics (Medulla oblongata, cerebellum, cerebrum etc.), but should i know other structures such as the optic chiasma, pineal gland, thalamus etc.

Also, can someone clarify what the meninges are? I was absent and the text book doesnt help.

You don't need to know too much about the brain, basically just know the structure of the brain, and how the brain works for coordination. These HSC questions should give you an idea on how much you need to know.

You need to know the specific structures in the brain that are responsible for sound, speech, and visual processing and perception. That's it.

And probably the basic sections like you mentioned, temporal lobe etc. Also know their location, and be prepared to draw a diagram showing the specific structures (in regards to sound, speech and visual).
