Ah, either Optus or Telstra can provide you with this.

Optus Cable:

# Has 12gb unlimited;
Will reduce your speed down to nearly unsurfable speeds after this.

Telstra Cable:

# Has 10gb unlimited;
# Is a little more lenient and you can go a bit further over the limit without the cap;
# However once capped, speeds are faster than Optus, but still horrible.

It may also depend on your area. Some areas are only servicable by one Cable provider or another.

However, if you want max downloads and not that worried about speed - I suggest ADSL, as I'm sure the others here would agree. You can get a lot more (albiet it takes longer) in a month than on Cable. I'm not sure how much ADSL costs compared to Cable though, or know what plans you can get with it.

But if you want to go for Cable, above are your debatably best picks =)

A deal for optus atm, is that for the 12gb and 20gb plans, between 2am-8am u get unmetered downloads. As a speed comparison, i recently downloaded a 750mb cd in about 9 minutes :) Cable is fast, however when u get capped (im on optus) 28.8 is very slow. Im capped atm, and some sites barely load like OCAU forums.

Nah.. you get broadband, you get all your surfing done faster, therefore you're off the computer and ready to study faster.. theoretically. Okay, you're right. :(

If you want unlimited downloads as in 'the highest possible speed' - go for cable, if you can get it, since it's quite worthwhile to get the optus 4mths free deal at the moment :)
If you want unlimited downloads as in 'as much data as possible' - go for adsl, the caps (if any) tend to be higher
12gig is quite large, chances are you won't use it all up if you're a casual downloader (most power downloaders are geeks *cough cough*)

I got my broadband during the HSC, the day before my SDD exam in 2002 :)

Heh. Presumably you had the willpower not to let it impact your exams?
