Haha, the day I started at my old job, Camphin Boston kept calling me to arrange an interview. It was so awkward because I couldn't answer my phone, and I ended up never replying. I felt awful afterwords, but there was just no time I could call them to tell them I had accepted a position elsewhere D: (Plus it took them over a month and a half to respond to my application...)
LOL cool!!! for mid-ter firms right? was ur school report marks really good?

I got offered Bacc and also a mid tier firm cadetship. I'm planning to take the cadetship, but does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

I had no idea what to expect with insolvency. I guess the type of work I was doing (and looking at what seniors did) wasn't where I wanted to head. The team dynamic, I guess you could say, also wasn't fantastic. I was directly working with one associate and 4 seniors, and I don't know how many times I heard "but my work is more important" because they wanted their stuff done first :p

Wasn't hard to leave at all. I was on a 6 month probation period, and I resigned within that period, so i only needed to give a weeks notice. After that it would have been a month. But all the staff were very understanding about why I was leaving. (Everyone was nice, but together it just didn't gel that well :p)
Oh okay then. I think I might accept the cadetship and see how it goes seeing as I have the three month probation period to figure out if it works for me. :) Thanks for your wise knowledge!

Does anyone know how much time we're given to return the contract?
I just received a notification for a reserve position for the BAcc course and hope to discuss both options with my careers advisor, could anyone here give a slight insight into the pros/cons of BAcc to a mid-tier/first-tier cadetship :)

Seremify & i wrote a thing on this a few pages back (though I admit im biased towards cadetships)

BUT one thing thats important to add is that in some mid tier firms, I think youre working full time for the whole 4 years of your degree for 5 days a week, as opposed to only 2 years in a big 4 (correct me if im wrong, but this is what I think one of my friends is doing)

In this regard id rather do BAcc internships and have less of a career advantage, than spend the rest of my life in a full time job.

Also there's nothing wrong with accepting BAcc and rejecting it later, in my opinion its different to signing a cadetships contract (although many people do sign and reject it later)

No problem. It's a really good path if you do enjoy it, there is always work to be done :p

How long did Pkf take to offer you the cadetship after the interview?

Yupp mine is for the Sydney office. My interviewer and the lady who contacted me said that the interviews go until mid next week so I think they're still sending out offers.

Just an update to anyone that is interested, I decided to go with the trainee/cadetship offer from PwC opposed to EY, as I went into this whole application process wanting to work in a corporate or specialist division of tax, both which will be possible at PwC, whilst EY only offered Private Client Services or Human Capital, both with their own advantages but not particularly what I saw myself doing in the long term. Although the same fields were possible at EY later on, the idea of completing a cadetship, only to find out you don't like your division and come back as a graduate in order to do a rotation was not particularly appealing to me personally (some people might like the idea).

Hopefully my experience with the cadetship process so far will be useful to others, and I look forward to contributing to this forum more in the future as I undertake my traineeship!

Depends on timing, and I think the scholarship office will try to talk you out of it lol. And agreed with tambam that it may jeopardise future opportunities given that a cadetship contract is a contract. It's a promise to do something in the future.

Can anyone currently in a Melbourne Cadetship program tell me the split between Melb/Monash/RMIT in terms of universities that are being attended?
