Yeah, so it's the end of the term for me and I decided to revise what I've done so far in 4u...

And then I get stuck about a half hour in.

Exercise 2.1, Question 4, parts d and e.

Conjugates of fractions confuse me completely, considering there is no example in the book for it - and my teacher is nowhere to be seen for the next month or so.

Q4d) conjg[(1/z)] = 1/conjg(z)
Q4e) conjg(z1 / z2) = conjg(z1) / conjg (z2)

Any help is appreciated - and those that help get rep. Seems fitting, I suppose.

So when taking a complex conjugate of a fraction, only the top part is changed, sign-wise?

Instead of thinking of it like that, divide it into real and imaginary, as such

Then its clear by the definition of a conjugate what the result is.

(Sorry jetblack2007 for the intrusion)

You've done nothing to apologise for. Was going to suggest that next.

Alternatively, you could use the properties already proven in c) and d):

Wow, so many people to rep... how will I do it?

Maybe with my mouse.

Well, it's kind of like a circular reference.

You help me, you get rep - you want more rep, you rep me - which helps me.

Then we start over.
