Hey guys,
I’m really stuck on which subject to drop and could use some advice.

So I personally like Economics more, I find the content interesting and it actually makes sense to me most of the time. But the problem is, I’ve been doing better in Business, and my school historically performs way better in Business too.

On top of that, the Business teacher is way better than the Eco one (Eco teacher isn’t bad, just not as engaging or helpful).

Now I’m not sure if I should stick with what I enjoy (Eco) or go with what’s probably the safer option grade-wise (Business).

Anyone else been in a similar situation? Is it better to keep the subject you like or the one you perform better in?

tbh im a firm believer in do what subjects you perform well in as it'll benefit in the long term.. but if you believe business is really unbearable then stick with eco

Hmm, as someone who only does business, i can't vouch for economics but imo i'd say if you are finding operations/whichever business function topic you are doing boring, chances are that you will also find the other 3 business functions boring, leading you to do worse. I'm also finding the approach towards y12 bstd content to be really different to y11, so if you did well in y11 content it will not always equate to doign well in y12 if you dont have the interest.

Based off what ive generally heard from about half my business class who also do eco, ive herad nearly all people having at least mentioning wanting to drop busienss bc of how much they also found eco much more interesting and for the people who have dropped, they seem to be doing pretty good and seem much happier :blink2:, so take that as you will.

Ik your teacher can also play a big role in your eco learning but it is possible to do well in eco esp if you find it interesting, even if you dont have the best teacher! My friend ended up ranking first in our grade despite barely ever locking in during class because of how much the teacher would go off topic and yap so that is proof you can do fine even without the best teacher.

If you are doing significantly better with busienss with the exam format + business reports vs eco, id say keep busienss but if there isnt that much difference and you feel you can do better in eco, id say keep eco :)
