can an object be moving if its upward force balances its downward force (1 Viewer)

can an object be moving if its upward force balances its downward force? i used to think by common sense this was an automatic no. but i read somewhere that if the forces cancel then acceleration will be zero on the particle but that does not necessarily mean a particle will be stopped, it could still be moving with a constant velocity. is this true?

Also, unless you're speaking of a particle in one dimension, the velocity can be zero upwards (and hence down), but the particle could still be moving because a non-zero "sideways" velocity... speaking strictly in terms of a two-dimensional space and relative to two perpendicular axis.

force involves mass and acceleration..
force = 0 accleration = 0
integrate accleration with respect to time, u'll get a constant velocity (initial v).
